Our event space will be an ADU we are currently building in our front yard. It will be 750 sq. feet, have a domestically licensed kitchen and full bathroom. It will seat around 25-30 people depending on the event.
We will host art classes, whole body health & nutrition classes, after-school programs, community service projects, worship gatherings, and spiritual formation activities for the purpose of bringing people together. We hope to see many new creative communities grow out of the Greenhouse Commons with a mission to improve life around them for the flourishing of our entire city!
Our event space is conveniently located in a vibrant Beaverton neighborhood, with easy access to public transportation and plenty of parking options. Our central location also means we are less than a mile from 4 public schools. We hope to be a safe place and resource for the students and teachers in our school district.
Calling all creatives! Greenhouse Commons is looking for compassionate teachers and budding artists who would love to create a community around what inspires them! Joy-filled, creative people bring healing and hope to our city because they add beauty, passion and connection to the world around them! Our purpose in hosting these classes is so each community started in the Greenhouse would be fruitful and multiply to serve and bring joy to our city with what they create!
The kitchen of Greenhouse Commons will be domestically licensed and equipped with everything necessary to start small businesses. It will also host various cooking classes and weekend breakfasts for our community. We aim to inspire and encourage budding entrepreneurs to start their businesses, and local food lovers to teach and share their passion for cooking with others. Greenhouse Commons wants to provide a space where people can learn, grow, and be inspired to love healthy and beautiful foods, for the betterment of the community.
The Greenhouse Commons operates on the foundational teachings of Jesus Christ and His call to "Follow Me". Being a disciple of Christ means we abide with Christ as we watch Him, listen to Him, and obey His voice. We learn how to do this together as a community when we read God's word, pray together and practice walking in the authority His Spirit gives us to heal and bless our city. We are excited to teach classes on identity, hearing God's voice, spiritual authority, prophecy, healing, discipleship, freedom, spiritual warfare and more. We look forward to hosting Alpha, Novo, Bible-read through groups & scripture studies on a consistent basis.
We look forward to serving our school communities with weekday "open" hours for hanging out after school. We hope Greenhouse Commons will feel like a safe and loving place where kids can gather to play games, make creative projects, do homework, have a snack, get some free tutoring and most importantly to be seen and known. We will have tutors available in the space from 2:30pm-6pm Monday through Fridays. We will require background checks on all our volunteers.
The first weekend of each month we will host a 24/7 worship and prayer space. We believe in the power of prayer! When God's people humble themselves and pray, miracles happen and He changes our lives and our perspectives. We want to see Greenhouse Commons become a space that's sacred, set apart, and dripping with the love and power of the Holy Spirit. When people walk in, we want them to feel the Kingdom and wonder what it is. An acorn buried in the right environment can grow to become a mighty oak tree that is fruitful and can multiply. We believe the Greenhouse will be a sanctuary to God's people and a Lighthouse to those who are weary and lost in the dark so that they will become Oaks of Righteousness, a planting of the Lord.
The Greenhouse Commons is dedicated to promoting whole-body health and wellness, including physical, spiritual, and mental well-being. Our bodies are incredibly complex and require good nutrition, adequate sleep, and whole foods to thrive. We aim to educate and empower our community about the healing power of nutrition, exercise, and sleep. We are excited to offer a range of exercise classes, as well as healthy and nutritious workshops.
Greenhouse Commons exists to create strong communities that bring joy, healing, and unity to our city. If you are a budding entreprenuer who has ideas to help our city flourish, but need a place to hold meetings or events, we want to help. Please send us an email and we can start dreaming of how Greenhouse Commons can hold space for what God is wanting to plant and grow in our city through you.
Greenhouse Commons plans to host a weekly food bank drop off. If you've been apart of these before they are SUCH a blessing to our community and schools. We hope to get lots of volunteers to help so it can be a beautifully welcoming environment that honors each person who comes.
If you have questions, would like to find out more about our worship nights, how to become a host, a teacher, or want to donate to help us build this dream, please email us. We would love to meet you in person for coffee!
